Amazing Astrological Prediction of Covid-19

Dr. P. Vinod Bhattathiripad

In June, 2018, I had visited my friend, the famous astrologer Kaimukku Raman Akkithiripad at his home. During our chat, he said "India will have to face a virus outbreak and a consequent economic slowdown in 2020 and again in 2021. Moreover, for us, Kasaragod district will be a concern then."

I was not sure of the credibility of this prediction as I was not able to envisage a country-wide virus outbreak in this modern world of medicines. I did not challenge him either as he is one of Kerala's living legends in the field of ancient Indian astrology. Moreover, he belongs to the school of astronomy set in the southern Indian state of Kerala 15 centuries ago by the great astronomy experts like Bhaskaracharya, Irinjatappilly Madhavan and Puthumana Somayaji. Such a person would not predict such casualties unless there is evidence based on the various astronomical formations and the related mathematics.

As a math lover, I requested him to give me a brief idea of the basic astronomical math of this prediction. He answered thus "During the first half of 2020 and also by mid-2021, the Jupiter (Brhaspati or Vyazham) will become weak due to its rare astronomical (mis)behaviour called Jupiter's Athicharam. A thus weak Jupiter can cause pandemic during March-June, 2020 and then again during April-September, 2021." I just
nodded as if I understood everything and then, left the topic there.

After 10 months, on 13 April, 2019, during his annual online prediction for the year ahead, another Kerala based astrology expert, Känippayyur Narayanan Namboothiripad too predicted a virus outbreak across the world during end-2019 to mid-2020 and also a resulting economic crisis (the video of which is still available in the YouTube).

Then I decided to pick up the mathematics of his prediction. Känippayyur kindly offered me help. Here is approximate translation of an his words: "As you know, all the nine planets, including the Earth and the Jupiter, keep revolving around the Sun (mathematically, covering 360 degrees). During this revolution, they move through 12 spans, each of which is 30 degrees. These spans are our 12 months, January to December. In Malayalam language (the language of the state of Kerala) these 12 months (Rasies) are Metam, Etavam, Mithunam, Karkitakam, chingam, Kanni, thulam, Vrischikam, dhanu, Makaram, Kumbham and Meenam.

Jupiter has to be in the Dhanu span throughout during 4 November 2019 to 30 November 2020. But, in between, during 30 March 2020 to 30 June 2020, Jupiter will be seen trespassing into the subsequent span. Makaram, and will remain there in a very weak position. Thereafter, it will come back and retain its original (stronger) position in Dhanu span. Astrologers call this astronomical (mis)behavior of Jupiter as Jupiter's Athicharam. Its negative effects are a virus out-break between March and June, 2020 and an economic crisis."

He, however, added that "None of the planets, including Jupiter, can actually change its speed during their journey around the Sun. So, Jupiter's Athicharam (during its revolution) is only a relative incident when viewed from the Earth (which is also revolving around the Sun in the same direction). It is like when you travel in a fast train, you can notice that the vehicles that move in the same direction along the nearby highway are moving backward though actually moving forward!" Suddenly remembered the (confusing) concept of "relative velocity" which I had picked up from my high school physics classes. So, I did not explore Athicharam further. After all, in astrology, it is the final prediction that is important.

I then brought to his attention, the prediction of Kaimukku Raman Akkithiripad that Jupiter will repeat this astronomical (mis)behaviour in 2021 too. He answered thus: "Yes, it tiny Kasaragod, just as Kaimukku. will. During 30 November 2020 to 13 April 1 2022, the Jupiter has to remain in the 30 degree span by name Makaram.
However, during 6 April 2021 to 4 September 2021. Jupiter's one more Athicharam (and also very weak positioning) will occur in the following span, Kumbham. It can cause another virus out-break during April-September. 2021, and also an ensuing economic crisis. Thus, we will have to face two virus-outbreaks and the resulting economic crisis during 2020-2021 and their negative effects to continue till April 2022"

I then started looking out for the beginning of the year 2020. Come December 2019, news reports on a virus-outbreak in the Chinese province of Wuhan started appearing one by one. Scientists found that the virus is a new type of Corona which they subsequently christened as Covid-19.

On 30 January 2020, Covid-19 was first detected in India in a person (returned from Wuhan) at Thrissur, where, ironically, the two astrologers also live. Then, just as Känippayur predicted, Covid-19 started spreading across the world from Wuhan through Italy during February March-April 2020. By today (on 9 May 2020), it has already killed
276,000 in 212 countries worldwide.
And, 35% of the 503 Covid-19 patients in our State were from the predicted.

Now, I am eagerly looking forward to hearing that Covid 19 has vanished from the Earth by 30 June 2020. And, I will be desperate if I see it re appearing in 2021 just as the two astrologers predicted.
