spiritual field in astrology?
Which house represents spiritual field in astrology?
As far as I know, the twelve houses in astrology are divided into 4 trines. 1–5–9 called the Dharma trine. 2–6–10 called the Artha trine. 3–7–11 called the Kama trine, and 4–8–12 called the Moksha or spiritual trine. Hence, by the most basic rule 4th, 8th and 12th are the spiritual fields.
Now, among these too, there is differentiation. The three houses have individual roles in regard to astrology.
4th house (Sukh Sthaan or the house of happiness):
The fourth house is the house of comfort and happiness. It is also known as the house of security and property. Mentally, it is your mind and its emotions. It is the first step towards spiritual awakening because to be able to even take the first step towards spirituality, you need to be physically and mentally strong and secure. A man with an empty stomach searches for food, not God. A man with a perturbed mind searches a social circle of people or at worst alcohol/drugs. It is only when the mind and body are secure that you desire some form of higher awakening.
8th house (The house of death, Randhra Bhava):
Texts of classical Vedic astrology are pretty fascinating. They give each house a name and that name explains every single about the house in just one word. The word Randhra in Sanskrit has multiple meanings. It means imperfection, hole, slit, chasm, defect, opening, possibility, flaw, fault, etc. Hence, it is known as the house of death as well as age. It is the house of the occult and the house of initial spiritual awakening. This is the place that opens the possibility of growth once you wish to strive towards it. Hence it is the second house of spirituality after 4th house.
12th house (The house of loss or Vyay Bhava):
When Buddha was asked what he gained after enlightenment, he said, “Nothing at all! But I lost a lot. I lost anger, fear, arrogance, pride, vanity, ego, envy, misery, and sadness. I lost everything, but gained nothing!”
Hence, the 12th house is the house of enlightenment or actual spiritual awakening. It is for this reason that it is a watery sign owned by Jupiter the priest. Water is transformation and sustenance at its peak. Water neither decays nor perishes (among the other five elements, not in physics. Water flows and transforms, it is still enough to show reflection but when it flows it can break mountains). And it is for this reason that Venus, the planet of lust becomes exalted there. Because in Pisces, Venus loses its only flaw, indulgence.
Hence, these three are the primary houses and signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces too play a role; only the houses alone do not denote spiritual growth, the signs must be involved in some way) that relate to spiritual growth.
Also, do note that while 5th and 9th are often thought of as spiritual houses, they are not. 9th is called the dharma bhava because dharma in Vedic terminology means the social and religious guidelines set in place; like the Vedic way of life, marriage and having a family, obeying the rituals, etc. and not spiritual growth. Hence, a strong 9th house only indicates that you will be someone who follows family traditions and conforms to the norms of society. Guru is who teaches and imbibes those norms in you, father is the one whose heritage and culture you adopt. If the 9th is strong along with other spiritual indicators; you will attain growth through your religious path, which is to say the one that your family follows. If the 9th is damaged along with indications of spiritual growth, you will walk a path different from the social/cultural tradition followed by your parents. But other than that, it in no way indicates spiritual prowess. If other spiritual indicators are absent, a strong 9th house will represent that your job and social life will be similar to your traditional upbringing, nothing else.
Same way, the 5th is the house of past life and its actions. It also represents relationships and creativity. If the 5th is weak along with spiritual indications, your path will make you suffer in relationships and your growth will be accompanied by sorrows (the results of your past karma). If the 5th house is strong, your life would take you on the spiritual path along with all the comforts of life. The best example of this is perhaps Lord Krishna. Mercury was exalted in the 5th house and its lord in the 4th house with Jupiter
