⭐️Understanding Vargottama Planet

Vargottama is a concept used in Vedic Astrology to refer to a planet that holds the same sign in D1 Rashi Chart and D9 Navamsha Chart. The theory said that if the planet is in the Vargottama position, it will give a beneficial and positive result (as it will be in maximum power), which is not always the case. Vargottama actually shows that the planet has a specific agenda and lessons should be fulfilled whether it's good or bad.

⭐️Facts about Vargottama Planet

1- The Vargottama planet will not always give a good result because the parameter will depend on many factors such as a sign, house placement, and aspect.

2- Exalted or retrograde Vargottama planets could give a native reversal results.

3- Debilitated Vargottama planet might give mild to good results.

4- Expect a 2x result whether it's good or bad when the vargottama planet is activated.

⭐️How to read Vargottama Planet in Divisional Charts

In my perspective, always take the Vargottama concept in all Varga charts not only in the D9 chart, because there is no coincidence that the planet has the same sign in your D1 and particular Varga chart. Always note which house the planet is moving in a Varga chart and count how many places it changes, it can give you an idea of the whole dynamic (hidden energy) of your Vargottama chart.

For example, the planet is Vargottama in the D1 chart sitting in the 11th house, while in D10 is the 3rd house, regardless of sign placement, you can see that the planet moves 5 placements away (from the 11th house to the 3rd house is 5 placements away). You can directly say for this particular planet to achieve its goal or to show up its core dignity, it will be required for a native to use communication and intellectual skill to attain fame, self-esteem, recognition, etc. Perhaps also we can say an expansion in the network circle, achievements, and success will profoundly affect his inner being and communication skill.

⭐️Let’s Take An Example

Mars is in Cancer sign debilitated and Vargottama, regardless of house placement, could manifest quite good results after hardship. Mars here will try to master and stimulate the energy of being in a water sign and see what it can do to manoeuvre from its current situation. Mars debilitation usually means a lack of courage and determination to achieve the goal, the native will be put into a situation where he should get out of his comfort zone and do something which is opposite of the natural karaka of Mars debilitated. So we can say debilitated vargottama can give acceptable results depending on native capability to withstand the turbulence.

Let's take another example where Venus retrograde is in the sign of Scorpio. Retrograde planets will give you a strong indication that the planet is powerful to manifest a result (karmic). In this case, you can expect some sort of strong transformation related to the house that Venus is sitting in and you might be emotionally impacted and change your perspective about the whole situation (wherever Venus is sitting). As much as it could be quite challenging for Venus to get into a point of stability (note that Venus is too powerful in the way can get the opposite result than expected, as much as it will pay part of native karma during this lifetime.
